Grease Thickeners and Lubrication

When it is time to re-lubricate your bearings, it is important to use the same grease if possible. If you will require a change from the original grease, consider the thickener and the oil used in the original. The greases will need to be compatible to keep the machinery from failing. An incompatible thickener and/or oil between two different greases will result in the oil running off the grease and the thickener soften up resulting in a mechanical breakdown due to lack of proper lubrication.
Contact the original grease manufacturer to run a compatibility test to guarantee that the proposed grease will work with your grease and application.
